  1. In the catacombs under my pleasure dome, Dana Andrews appears in “The Frozen Dead.” I saw it when I was about 9 on the local late night horror show, and had nightmares for a week after. It was those disembodied, re-animated arms that got to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaRDza5S0UI

  2. I’m of the generation deeply traumatized by Large Marge in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. I also lost several nights of sleep over Body Snatchers, albeit the ’93 version, which, while not as great a film as the first two, still nailed the paranoia and threat of being murdered in your sleep, with the addition of effects showing victims’ bodies being sucked out and deflating with a horrific sound as their copy emerges from the pod. Freaked me the hell out.

John Hough, who did Watcher in the Woods (and the Witch Mountain films) also did a great kids Hitchcockian thriller called Eyewitness (aka Sudden Terror [1970]) about a young boy witnessing a political assassination, then being chased all over town by the killers on motorcycles. Worth tracking down.

I’ll see your Full Metal Jacket story and raise you my dad showing me Apocalypse Now at age 9. Needless to say, mom was thoroughly pissed and I have yet to see the film again since. 🙂

    1. I’d never even HEARD of Eyewitness / Sudden Terror. However, judging from that trailer you linked, this is a hole in my life that I need to fill as immediately as possible.

  3. I remember seeing Equilibrium and loving it. It was The Matrix meets 1984… kinda.
